Woman, 60, sent under house arrest for leaving note on grave of Putin’s parents

A court in Saint Petersburg has sent Irina Tsybaneva, 60, under house arrest for leaving a note on the grave of Vladimir Putin’s parents, Mediazona reports.

Tsybaneva is accused of desecration of a grave. She said in court that she decided to leave the note after “watching the news and understanding that  things were terrible, that there were so many victims [of the Ukraine War].”

“Parents of the maniac, please take him to your side, the whole world is praying for his death. Death to Putin, you brought up a monstrous murderer,” the note read.

It was reported yesterday that a criminal procedure had been initiated against Tsybaneva. Her son Maxim says she visited the cemetery in Saint Petersburg on 6 October. A few days later, a police officer came to her apartment.

“She would refuse to let him in for a long time, but decided to open the door after he said he would use force to get in. They took her to the local police station at 3 p.m. She gave me a call at night, told me that her house would be searched. We went there immediately, but she wasn’t home, and there were no signs that a search had been conducted,” Maxim Tsybanev says.

The woman was taken to court the following day where she had her arrest extended for two more days.
