A military court in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk has sentenced Boris Bukatin, a conscripted soldier who deserted a military base in Moscow in July 2009, to 30 months in prison, Mediazona cites the court’s website.

Bukatin has resided in Krasnoyarsk and Saint Petersburg for 13 years, officially unemployed. Tayga Info, a Siberian media outlet, says he had been arrested by the police in 2012 and sent back to the military before he escaped again not a month after.

The Volgograd branch of the Investigative Committee started a criminal procedure two days ago after Daniil Radsky, 21, another conscript, committed suicide due to “confrontations with comrades-in-arms.”
