Makhachkala court orders 18 months prison time for mobilisation protester

A court in Makhachkala has sentenced Adam Gadzhiev, a local man, to 18 months in prison for protesting mobilisation, OVD-Info reports.

The man was found guilty of using “harmless violence” towards a law enforcer. He was sent to a pre-trial facility on 28 September, and his verdict was pronounced on 10 February.

After Vladimir Putin declared “partial” mobilisation in late September last year, protests erupted nationwide, including Dagestan. OVD-Info reported that about 100 people had been detained in the region’s capital Makhachkala on 25 September, followed by further detentions the next day.
