Ukraine’s military is ready for a counteroffensive, the country’s president Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview for The Wall Street Journal.

“I don’t know how long it will take,” he told The Wall Street Journal. “To be honest, it can go a variety of ways, completely different. But we are going to do it, and we are ready.”

Zelensky also added that Ukraine still wants to receive some more weapons from its allies. “We would like to have certain things, but we can’t wait for months,” he said.

The Washington Post wrote yesterday that Ukraine’s sappers started to remove landmines on the parts of the front line under their control ahead of the counteroffensive. The newspaper’s sources did not specify their tactic and locations of the de-mining operation, as well as the expected area where the counteroffensive is to be expected. The Zaporizhzhia region is often cited as the most likely direction.
