A US drone has been detected over the Black Sea waters, Russia’s Defence Ministry said in a statement.

A Su-30 fighter was taken into the air. “The crew of the Russian fighter identified the aerial target as a U.S. Air Force MQ-9A Ripper reconnaissance UAV,” the Russian ministry statement reads.

The ministry added that “as the Russian fighter approached, the foreign-manufactured reconnaissance UAV performed a U-turn away from the State border”.

In March, a Russian Su-27 fighter collided with a US MQ-9 drone Reaper over the Black Sea. Afterwards, Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu held telephone talks with US Secretary of Defence Lloyd Austin.
