A Wagner Group fighter who had been in prison for murder has given a talk to pupils at a middle school in central Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region, Telegram channel Govorit NeMoskva reported on Friday.

In his speech to the class, Alexander Raspravin reportedly told the children about the “day-to-day conditions on the frontline and how important and necessary the support of ordinary citizens is”, as well as how he “rescued 16 Russian service members from captivity”.

Raspravin can be seen showing a portable anti-tank missile system to the pupils in photos of the event posted on the school’s social media.

In 2010, Raspravin was sentenced to six years in a high-security prison for beating his own grandfather to death, independent media outlet Mediazona reported, and in 2017 he was sentenced to another 11 years behind bars for beating an acquaintance and ultimately causing his death.
