‘Ukrainian agent’ allegedly planning terror attack killed by FSB

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB), announced on Wednesday that a Russian citizen they believed to be a “Ukrainian agent” was killed while resisting arrest on suspicion of plotting a terror attack in a military recruitment centre in Tver, a city northwest of Moscow.

The FSB said it had thwarted a terror attack “planned by Ukrainian intelligence services that involved a Russian citizen who was a member of a banned Ukrainian nationalist unit”.

The FSB said that the suspect had been collecting information about Russian military and energy facilities in the Tver region and passing it to Ukrainian intelligence, adding that he had been in possession of a cache of arms and ammunition for use in a planned attack on a military recruitment office.

The FSB said that the man was killed when he resisted its agents, and that an improvised explosive device and a hand grenade had been found at the scene.
