Five people were killed and 37 were injured in yesterday’s shelling of Donetsk, according to the self-proclaimed authorities of the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic,” a pro-Russian breakaway state in eastern Ukraine.

The ‘DPR’ officials claim that Ukraine was shelling their territory. The Ukrainian officials are yet to comment on the matter.

Russia’s RIA Novosti and TASS reported a shell hitting a local maternity ward and a market square in the southeast district of Donetsk yesterday. Denis Pushilin, the “DPR head of state” asked Russia for more troops, claiming that “Kyiv had literally crossed the line.”

It is impossible to quickly check the official data on the victims during warfare.

Krystina Havrylyuk and Taras Ibrahimov, reporters for Ukraine’s Suspilne Novyny, suffered shelling yesterday in Lysychansk, a town 10 km away from Sievierodonetsk where the combat is heaviest at the moment. The reporters were evacuated and managed to stay unhurt.
