Russian State Duma approves bill on establishing youth movement meant to ‘form children’s worldview’ and ‘prepare them for life in a society’

The Russian State Duma (lower house of parliament) has approved the third reading of the bill on establishing a national youth movement, the chamber’s website informs.

The movement is meant to become involved in children’s education, provide career guidance and organise leisure activities, form their worldview and “prepare the youth for a full life in a society.”

The organisation was initially supposed to be named The Big School-Break; however, this initiative was abandoned. Members of the movement will now be offered to select the name themselves. The organisation accepts underage members who will be considered “students” and members over the age of 18 with at least a high school education, who will take on the role of “tutors”.

The government will provide the venues for the organisation, including children’s camps and educational facilities.
