Russia’s censorship agency Roskomnadzor, upon the request of the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, has blocked the website of the German national daily newspaper Die Welt, reported Russia’s digital rights watchdog Roskomsvoboda.

Roskomnadzor notes that the access was blocked to the entire site at once. The decision to block the site was made on 9 July.

Earlier, Roskomnadzor blocked sites of the national British daily broadsheet newspaper The Daily Telegraph, German tabloid newspaper Bild, Finland's national public broadcasting company Yle, Deutsche Welle, Euronews, and Delfi, as well as Radio Azatutyun — the Armenian Service of Radio Liberty.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Roskomnadzor has deleted over 117,000 “fakes” and blocked at least 1,177 websites containing information about Ukraine.
