Suspilne: at least 458 people were killed during Russian military occupation of Bucha district
At least 458 were killed on the territory of the Bucha district in the Kyiv region during Russian military occupation, said Vice Mayor of Bucha Mikhailyna Skoryk-Shkarivska, cited by Ukraine's national public broadcaster Suspilne.
“On the territory of the Bucha district, 458 bodies of people that had been killed as a result of Russian military aggression have been found and identified. Out of them, 419 people had been killed by Russian soldiers. Among the killed, there are 12 children under 21,” she said.
According to Skoryk-Shkarivska, the majority of the victims were shot in their cars during the evacuation from the city, 116 bodies were discovered in a mass grave near a church.
Furthermore, over 50 bodies were not laid to rest, the vice mayor added. In five cases, the remains were impossible to identify: the experts were not even able to establish the sex.
According to her, 14 locals were captured, 10 more people are considered to be missing.
At the end of July, the Kyiv region police reported that 1,348 bodies of civilians have been found since the start of the war; 216 of them still have not been identified.
The regional police chief Andriy Nebytov said at the time that 300 people were considered to be missing in action.
