A fire erupted at a military unit near Moscow, a source in the emergency services told Russian state news agency TASS.

The fire department received a call that the blaze was at a residential building at 33 Vostochnaya Street, the agency writes.

There have been no reports of injured residents. The fire has been eliminated, the emergency services report. The fire spread over the area of 1,200 square metres.

Baza Telegram channel reports that the fire erupted in a wooden building that housed military barracks. The channel says that conscripts and military personnel were inside when the fire started. All of them were evacuated.

According to Kommersant newspaper, satellite footage of the area shows military equipment stationed near the military unit.

Since the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, arson attempts have been reported in over a dozen Russian conscription offices, including offices in Cherepovets, Nizhnevartovsk, Balashikha (Moscow region) and other cities. In Volgograd, local resident Denis Serdiuk was arrested on suspicion of setting fire to a conscription office.
