Five civilians died, 10 more were injured in the shelling of Ukraine’s Donetsk region, head of the regional administration Pavlo Kyrylenko said.

“On 18 August, the Russians killed 5 civilians in the Donetsk region: 2 in Avdiivka, 1 in Druzhba, 1 in Zelenopillya and 1 in Pervomaiskyi,” Kyrylenko noted.

According to him, at least 744 civilians were killed in the region, while at least 1,928 more were injured since the Russian invasion began in February. Kyrylenko adds that it is still impossible to clarify exactly how many people died in Mariupol and Volnovakha.

The “DPR” mission to the Joint Centre for Control and Coordination (JCCC) reported that six people died and 23 more locals sustained injuries on the territories that are controlled by the pro-Russian “authorities” in the past 24 hours.

On 17 and 18 August, the Kharkiv region authorities said that residential areas of Kharkiv had been targeted by missile strikes. The attacks destroyed two dormitories, head of the regional administration Oleh Synyehubov said.

A missile strike on a building in Kharkiv’s Saltivka district left 7 locals dead and 17 more injured. Meanwhile, 2 more people died in the Slobidskyi district of the city after a missile strike in the morning, 18 people were injured, including 2 children, according to the local authorities. The Russian Defence confirmed the city trikes. According to the agency, a temporary camp station for foreign mercenaries was struck, 90 militants were killed.
