Russia’s Investigative Committee: several people killed and wounded following ammunition depot explosion in Belgorod region

As a result of an ammunition warehouse explosion in the Belgorod region of Russia, several people were killed and wounded, Russia’s Investigative Committee reports.
“An ammunition depot located in the Oktyabrsky settlement of the Belgorod district was blown up as a result of shelling conducted by Ukraine’s Armed Forces. [The ammunition’s] detonation occurred. According to preliminary data, there are people killed and wounded,” the committee’s statement reads.
The number of victims was not mentioned in the statement.
Russian outlet Baza claims that 14 agents of Russia’s National Guard were injured in the shelling, while “several other agents were killed”. According to Telegram channel ASTRA, three agents of the National Guard were killed, over 10 people were injured.
Alexander Bastrykin, the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, ordered a criminal investigation into the shelling of the Belgorod region’s territory.
Yesterday, 13 October, the governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov said that an ammunition depot had been blown up in a village of the Belgorod district as a result of shelling.
Back then, Gladkov said that there were no victims and that local residents would be transported a safe distance away.
