Oil depot comes under attack in Russia’s Belgorod region

An oil depot in Russia’s Belgorod region has come under attack, regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on his Telegram channel.

“Another attack. One of the projectiles hit an oil depot in the Belgorod district. I am currently on the scene. Emergency services are fighting to put out the fire. There is no threat of the fire spreading. I will keep you informed,” the governor wrote.

Gladkov later reported that the fire had been eliminated.

TASS reports, citing emergency services, that one out of ten reservoirs was damaged in the attack on the oil depot by Ukrainian troops.

Besides, the governor confirmed that a customs checkpoint in Shebekino had come under fire as well.

Earlier, eyewitnesses reported that air defence systems were operational in the Belgorod region. It was reported several minutes earlier that air defence systems were operational in Sevastopol (Crimea). Local governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said that the air defence systems were functioning “in test mode”, calling on citizens to “keep calm” and refrain from taking photos or videos.

Yesterday, debris from a shot down missile damaged power lines in the Novy Oskol district in the Belgorod region. The day before that, air defence systems were operational during an attack on Belgorod. Part of the projectile hit a residential building. According to Gladkov, no one was injured.

Later, the governor reported that an ammunition depot had exploded in the attack, causing the detonation of ammunition.
