Andrey Khomichenko, a resident of Russia’s Chita region who was drafted on 22 September in Buryatia, was killed on 11 October during the war in Ukraine, the administration of the Ust-Barguzin settlement in Buryatia told Chita.ru news outlet.

The man leaves behind a wife and three underage children.

In the spring of 2022, Khomichenko already took part in the hostilities in Ukraine. He came back in June, but was drafted under the “partial mobilisation” in September.

Chairman of the Russian State Duma Defence Committee Andrey Kartapolov stated on 13 October that fathers of three and more children under the age of 16 could get a draft exemption. Previously, only men with four and more children were exempt from the draft.

Russian State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said on 19 October that 9,500 fathers of three and more children had their draft notices annulled so far.
