Austria has declared four Russian diplomats personae non gratae, the country’s Foreign Ministry says on Twitter.

“Two diplomats of the Russian Embassy have engaged in acts incompatible with their diplomatic status,” the agency says. Two more diplomats of the Russian permanent Mission to the UN “have committed acts incompatible with the Headquarters Agreement,” the Austrian Foreign Ministry states.

The four must leave Austria by 8 February.

It was revealed earlier today that Christo Grozev, an investigative journalist and the director of Bellingcat, had been forced to leave Austria, his home of nearly 20 years, due to security threats. “I suspect that there are more Russian agents, informers, and henchmen in the city than police officers,” Grozev said.

Grozev was going to return to Vienna after a trip to the US, but had to change his plans. His contacts in the intelligence world warned him he could be in danger should he return.
