The Kremlin will not allow media from “unfriendly countries” to attend Vladimir Putin’s address to the Federal Assembly, Russia’s bicameral parliament, says Dmitry Peskov, Putin’s spokesman.

“Only media from foreign countries that are friendly to us will be granted accreditation. We shall not invite those from unfriendly countries, they may watch the live broadcast on any channel,” he said.

Putin will address the Federal Assembly on 21 February. His previous address was in April 2021. He did not address the parliament in 2022 despite being obliged to do so every year by the Constitution.

“There was no address last year because the situation was very dynamic and it wasn’t easy to notch up results and plans for the future at any given moment,” TASS said.
