A building has been partially destroyed following shelling of the Russian-occupied city of Melitopol in the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, local authorities report.

The occupation “administration” claims that the building in question is located near a multidisciplinary college.

Ukrainian Mayor of the city Ivan Fedorov writes that Russian law enforcement officers were stationed in the damaged building.

Initially, it was reported that four people had been injured in the shelling, with several more buildings getting damaged.

According to the latest reports, a dormitory building, a building near the multidisciplinary college, and a garage were damaged in the shelling, the occupation “government” reports.

According to rector of Melitopol’s State University Andriy Chuikov, the dormitory building was damaged in the shelling, with 42 windows getting blown out. He adds that 46 people were evacuated, no one was hurt.

In total, two people were hospitalised following the shelling.

On 23 March, a police officer was injured in an explosion on the streets of Melitopol. It was reported that a homemade explosive device had been set off near a fire station.

On 14 March, the occupation “government” of Melitopol reported that the car of municipal transport factory head Ivan Tkach had been blown up; the man began collaborating with Russia following the occupation of the city.
